NŪR: A Choral Sound Bath with Bloom Sound Collective

  • 127 Kent Street Brooklyn, NY, 11222 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

After a sold-out event in 2023, Bloom Sound Collective 🌸 will resurrect its signature experience: the choral sound bath. 💫

Molding together choral music and traditional sound healing rituals, this event will feature:

  • 12 of New York City's best vocalists 🎶

  • 4-5 sound healing artists 🧘‍♀️

  • 1 cellist 🎻

About NŪR:

Inspired by the diversity of our shared human experience, this program will honor a variety of spiritual traditions to celebrate the divine light (or "NŪR") that shines within us all. 🙏

Listeners will enjoy choral repertoire by Caroline Shaw, John Tavener, Anna Þorvaldsdóttir, and Frank Ticheli alongside healing instruments like crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, gongs, shruti box, chimes, drums, and many more. 🌀

Honoring everything from mystic Islam to Paganism to traditional Christianity and more, this program is carefully curated to remind us of the power of the human spirit and the human voice — a healing instrument we all possess. 🤲🏼

Whether you're a lover of choral music, a dedicated meditator, or simply looking for a unique and uplifting experience, this event is for you. 🦋 Bring your most open and authentic selves.

Ticket Types:

  • General Admission: Claim a spot to lay down on the floor of the church, first-come first serve when doors open. Bring your own yoga mat and amenities and soak in the full "sound bath" experience. (don't be shy, some people bring comforters!)

  • VIP: We will reserve one of the best spots for you! Limited availability, yoga mats provided (and some other surprises, too).

  • Seated: Sit upright along the perimeter of the space. Limited availability, chairs provided.

  • Donation: Can't make it but want to support Bloom's mission? Please feel free to donate any amount of your choosing.

The Venue:

Nestled on a quiet street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Church of the Ascension is an intimate, sacred space with arched ceilings, stained-glass windows, and quaint brick walls. 💒 Adorned with candles, flowers, and soft lighting, guests will enjoy a fully acoustic sound experience in this reverberant sanctuary. 🕯🌹

Ticketing Policy:

No refunds. 🎟 Our ticket revenue provides vital funds to pay our artists competitively. There is limited capacity in the venue, which has been carefully selected to ensure an intimate and safe setting. Each spot is precious.

Choral Chameleon Chorus makes its Vermont debut with a sound bath: a unique, healing choral experience. Collaborating with certified sound healers, the audience will be surrounded by the singers of the chorus and “bathed” in the layered sounds of voices, Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, gongs, and more. This intensive sound experience is designed to wash over the body for healing, peace, and restorative contemplation. Because of the unique audience seating configuration designed for this concert experience, capacity will be limited. Learn more about this one-of-a-kind event. Choral Chameleon will also return to the MAC in the spring for a more traditional concert.

CHORAL WASH: NEW! EXCITING! THRILLING!

  • The Unitarian Church in Westport (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Our Music Committee presents a Choral WASH, the first one in the town of Westport. It is a journey in sound in which music is used as the means to journey. In order to achieve this audience members are invited to lie down on their yoga mat, wear a blindfold, and experience music in a different way. Choral Chameleon, one of the premier New York choral groups, will sing several pieces and between selections, professional sound therapists will offer short improvisations. One is able to take in and engage with sound in a different way as it washes over you and through you.

For more information, contact Ed Thompson at the church.  Space is limited to 45 people. There will be a small number of chairs available for those who are not able to use a mat. The price for each ticket is $40.  Please sign up in advance; there will be no at-the-door ticket sales. Requirements: please bring a yoga mat or something to lie on as well as eye covering and a pillow (if desired). This event is designed for adults or teens with parental accompaniment.
